Customer Review: “I did put this on a wheel barrow. Nothing about that was difficult. It obviously needs a battery. Just look on Amazon for XT60 battery and you’ll find a million of them. Well, unless you have any electrical ability at all. Then you can just put your own XT60 connector on whatever. That wheel barrow had some ridiculous torque. It did not seem to care what I put in there. It would just happily buzz along, carrying whatever. It’s not fast, but you probably don’t want a wheel barrow to be blasting along, going 80mph. Well, maybe you do. That would be hilarious. I decided that this had too much torque and was too much fun for a wheel barrow. So, I decided to make a motorized couch because I have too much time on my hands and I like doing goofy things. Now, it’s not 100% done, since it doesn’t have sufficient brakes to stop a couch or, well, the best steering system, but it does move. I can have three people on that E-couch and it will still drive around. So, if you are using this for its intended purpose, you should find it more than powerful enough.”

This arrived with almost everything needed, what was missing was the XT60 female connector plug to battery cable, and of course, the battery itself as a separate purchase. Assembly and installation is not difficult, it takes no more than 30 minutes from start to finish. The motor is strong enough to clearly assist with heavy wheelbarrow loads. This only works with single wheel wheelbarrows and is well worth the investment to help with yardwork. I purchased this electric wheel for my wheel barrow since I am doing several house projects that require me to lug a bunch of heavy items up and down a hill since I can’t get my vehicle to the desired location. Instead of breaking my back I decided to convert my wheelbarrow into an electric work horse. The construction of the wheel is very robust and overall great design. There are no instructions, but connecting the wires is pretty straightforward because you match the labels or colors to one another. The difficult part about this is that e-wheels are not standard items to install on a wheelbarrow so it took some trial, error, and testing before I got everything put together. I am assuming every person will have a different experience putting things together because of different wheelbarrow designs. I have a True Temper wheelbarrow so I’ll detail my process. 1. Remove your old wheel (easy) 2. You will need a battery. I ordered the H Hailong e-bike battery: 48V 30,000 mAh ( pretty large but figured I needed this size in order to move all the heavy things). You will have to re-solder the cables on the motor controller since the connection type is different gauge wires (I believe you have to bump up in size from 16 awg to 12 awg wire). The motor control board will be a little tight but with some effort I was able to jam it back in its housing. I bought an outdoor electrical box to house the battery, motor, control, and sensitive wires. The size I got was the large (13x9x5 inch) I had to cut the internal ribs in order to fit the battety (used my dremel). So I purchased a 16mm OD x 2mm wall steel tube from McMaster-Carr and used it as a sleeve for the wheelbarrow axle brackets. You will have to cut the sleeve to length so make sure to measure the wheelbarrow axle bracket internal length beforehand. Mine was about 2 inches in length. 5. EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Install torque arms instead of installing the torque washer supplied. I didn’t do this and my axle brackets got destroyed from the high torque. I drilled 3/8 holes on each side of the wheelbarrow arms above the axle and installed a 3/8 bolt with some nuts on each side so the torque arms have a surface to react on. 7. I 3D printed some adapters to hold the controls and triggers since the diameters are meant for bicycle handles and the orientation of the controls would be awkward without them. Was able to get a nice snug slide on fit. And that was really it! Overall, I’m pretty happy with it and it was a fun ungineering side project. Hopefully the video and photos help as a guide.”

Customer Review: “This kit will not work with every wheelbarrow. Modifications will likely need to be made. I bought the 36v version because I had some 40v ryobi batteries. I recommend using power tool battery adapters and power tool batteries. You just need to remember to remove the battery when you are done with it. I don’t know if this kit has low voltage protection. The 36v version seems like it’s powerful enough. I don’t know how it compares to the 24v and 48v versions. Speed 3 and speed 1 are reversed on mine. This lead me to believe it didn’t have enough power, but it was fine once I switched it to speed 1.”
