Customer Review: “The reasons for my ordering this tiller was the weight was listed at 30 lbs, heavier than the other competing models, so I translated this to a likely larger motor and the price was equally competitive. I have always used gas powered tillers, which are usually quite heavy and do a terrific job, but are much better suited for when I was a young strong man and not an old man like now. I have also found a gas powered tiller attachment for a powerhead, to be lightweight and works surprisingly well, when the motor starts. Using this electric tiller was a first for me. Since it’s electric the motor at either works or it doesn’t with little effort to find out. This this tiller was easy to put together in about 15 minutes out of the box. It rolls easily on its lightweight plastic wheels, but The tiller is light enough to pick up and move. Across cross bar about halfway down the handle would provide a handle grip to carry the tiller, would have been a good addition, but I will add something in the future. The electric motor is unbelievably powerful, so much so you need to discover the technique to handling this tiller or just hang on because when it digs in it will take you for a ride. I found the best way to start out is with the wheels down to hold downward pressure on the handles which raises the contact point of the tines to the top surface so when gradually lowered they don’t dig in immediately. This loosens up the top layer of soi, then you can progressively deepen the tilling action. Roots and grass do pose a problem as the tiller will cut through the small stuff, but the debris tends to get wound around the tines. I keep a sharp razor knife and small hand pruner handy to cut and remove the build up of grass and roots. As far as the action of this tiller it does a beautiful job of breaking up the soil. By making several passes it can till down as deep as you wish. When first starting if the ground is hard it can have a tendency to bounce as it tries to dig through. In a short period of time it will dig through even the black clay soil we have. It works great tilling in lime or mulch. Like any electric motor put under stress, giving it a break to cool down will definitely extend its life. That advice goes for an old man also. In the Texas heat I work for a few minutes then take a break and rehydrate. So far I’m really pleased with this tiller, it’s a new purchase so I cannot comment on its longevity.”

It’s easy to assemble. 10 minutes from the box.2. It’s powerful.3. It’s easy to operate. If you can walk a dog or a precocious child, you can operate this tool.4. The breath and depth of this machine’s ability to unearth small/medium sized roots is nothing short of miraculous. Also surprising was its removal of the entire areas’s layers of anti-weed cloth that was laid down by the previous home owners. I didn’t intend on removing the layer of cloth, but the machine had other ideas so I went along with the plan. I’m glad I did because it’s one helluva cleaner area now.5. One of the most impressive discoveries early on was my walking backwards with the tiller and lifting slightly towards my chest which causes the machine to pitch forward and dig deeper to really loosen that rich and moist soil – – doing so removed the need for me to even consider buying any amount of new dirt for the wildflower seeds I’ll be throwing down. I think this was one of the most useful motions used during the entire process.6. Because my area was so packed with years of roots and layer of cloth, I did have to stop the machine three times in the 90 minutes I was tilling in order to remove the wrappings of the materials around the spool. But that’s expected.The area pictured (before and after) took me 90 minutes from start to finish. I am relentlessly meticulous about yard work. Someone else may have done it quicker. I promise you, had I not used this tiller, (a) my back would be shot by now, (b) I would be no where done – manually tilled, this would have easily been a 3-5 hour job and likely cost me a bad back for the next two weeks. Customer Review: “I wish i would have bought this earlier, it has saved my back the pain from hoeing up the garden. So easy to use (as long as you keep an eye out for the eletrical cord). It cuts through raspberry roots very easy, and tree roots that are small like 1/2 inch in size. I love that it folds up and fits easy in my closet. Easy to put into my car trunk. It is light weight. The only downside is that i would have to stop every so often to clear out the roots that wrap around the tines, but that is expected from all tillers.”
