Customer Review: “Well folks🙂 I have to tell you this has been a nice weed eater that cuts really good and it’s LIGHTWEIGHT and it’s powerful👍 and at a PRICE that can’t be beat…it’s way more powerful than some battery and electric weed eaters that I have.. like a Ryobi… And supposedly a commercial grade Ryobi $200 😤..Anyway 🙂 This electric weed eater is very good and I’ll take that PEPSI challenge any day 😀 when comparing it to some other weed eaters PLUS it doesn’t USE LINE like other electric weed eaters that I’ve used.. at least that’s been my experience..This is a KEEPER weed eater from Black & Decker👍….it handles tall grass and even some hedge… though it probably shouldn’t be used for hedge but it’s TOUGH 😀 and better than any battery weed eater I used especially with the power and cutting…The power alone and convenience of NOT rushing through the job with the battery pack and charging ect imo is worth the cord drag 🙂… and much better than a battery weed eater or other electric weed eaters..This just cuts better 👍… With MORE power consistently and constantly through the whole job…So in conclusion 🙂 the Black & Decker BESTA510 weed eater in my opinion is a KEEPER and this model has been around for a while which speaks for itself not to mention Black & Decker has been around for years…. This weed eater OVERALL (pound for pound ) is a solid performer with many mostly liking this weed eater and Black & Decker products overall..Thanks for reading🙂.. The adjustable height and handle make it comfortable to use, and the automatic feed spool means I don’t have to keep stopping to adjust the line — a huge time saver! Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “The good folks at Greenworks have another hit. This 60V cordless string trimmer hits that sweet spot of having enough power without feeling like overkill. This 60V unit has the power to blast through all sorts of weeds, and the 4 amp hour capacity lasts long enough to get most medium and some larger jobs done in one charge. It is definitely comparable to a 25 cc gas powered string trimmer, but without the hassle or noise. Unsurprisingly, this battery powered string trimmer is relatively quiet, unlike its gas powered cousins. Also unlike gas powered, it is very simple to use. Just put in the battery and go. The weight is comparable to a gas powered string trimmer. It isn’t feather light, but it comes with a strap that helps a lot. I can use it for an hour and not feel completely wiped out. I also like that I can use attachments with it. I happen to have a couple of attachments from other brands and they worked perfectly fine with this string trimmer. Specifically, I have used a pole saw and a hedge trimmer attachment with it. Both made quick work of the job at hand. I also appreciate that it comes with a high capacity battery and charger. I’ve seen others that only come with a smaller capacity battery, or perhaps none at all, but this is a good one and done starter set that will serve you well. It also comes with a bit of 080 string. When it runs out, I plan to use 095 string, but even the 080 is quite durable and effective, which is why I haven’t used it all up yet. I often see this particular string trimmer listed at far below the list price, and I consider it to be a very good value. So, skip the bargain trimmers at the big box stores and get this instead. I’ve owned several string trimmers over the years and had issues with all of them, but this one is a keeper. This is likely the last string trimmer that I’ll ever need.”
Customer Review: “I recently purchased this weed eater, and it performs impressively. It powers through thick grass and weeds effortlessly, and the battery-operated design is convenient and easy to use for most yard tasks. However, the battery is a significant drawback—it’s very heavy. At 5’2” and 125 pounds, I found it tiring to handle for long periods, as the weight throws off the balance. For someone my size, I’d recommend going with the 20 or 40 model, which likely have lighter batteries for better maneuverability. Overall, it’s a great weed eater for the price, but picking the right model is key for comfort, especially for smaller users.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “My father had an electric hedge trimmer that he said didn’t cut much of anything. I tried it once and it was totally useless. More like massaging the bushes. Consequently I inherited from him the habit of using manually operated shears. Finding one of those with straight blades that actually cut was kind of annoying. After watching a couple yard care Youtube videos decided to try an electric trimmer. Due to the experience above I suspected I needed to spend $70 on one of the big ones to get one that could really cut. The 24” (22”? B&D’s were out of stock when I was ready to purchase so I bought this one based on the reviews wondering if it could live up to those reviews. For the low price I had severe doubts. Cue parting clouds, sunbeams, and trumpets. Hey, this thing actually cuts! In 20 minutes I cut what would have taken a couple days with the shears. The limiting factor was greens waste bin space. Stuffed a couple and had to stop. Plus shaping was much easier so the bushes look better. I used a 100′ “contractors” extension cord I bought on Amazon, actually I bought two different cords for different uses, so I test fit both and both sockets fit the trimmer. The wire fit in the hole for the retention hook and I had no problems with the cording popping off. It has trouble cutting thicker woody branches (perhaps around a half-inch) but that matches the description so no problem. It appears to be a trade-off. In exchange for being very light and easy to handle, you trade-away the cutting power of a higher amperage motor and the reach of the 22″ and 24″ trimmers. So if all your bushes are not much taller than you are and you don’t have to reach back too much, then this one is great. If you have giant bushes with thick branches then you might want more power and reach. Extremely happy with this purchase. Less effort, more productivity, less time, bushes look better, and for a low cost.”
Customer Review: “I am so happy I bought this electric saw. I was skeptical that it would be worth it to trim my boxwoods, but I am oh-so glad I tried it! I bought it because a few days before I’d trimmed just one of my boxwoods and it took most of the afternoon, by hand, and I was hot, my hands were sore, and I was tired. I figured, “Good grief, I’ve gotta try something different or I’ll be trimming for a week.” So I ordered this 17″ saw, and frankly, I’m amazed at what a good job it did! Not only did it trim my largest boxwoods, it also trimmed my tall, thick hard wood stemmed euonymus’s. I usually have to get out my arm length heavy-duty clippers to battle those. I didn’t think this little saw would cut through their tough thick boughs, but it did. All within just minutes, rather than hours, and days! I had so much fun I started trimming other things I hadn’t thought of- and best of all, I used it to trim my tough ivy off some boulders they’d completely swallowed up a few years ago. It was easy-peazie, just swooped them back and forth slightly above the face of the rocks, the saw did it all- broke the ivy, and trimmed it so beautifully-done in moments. Normally, I’d be out there for hours on my knees, clipping with my hand clippers, and sweating amongst spiders on the ground, trying to fight bugs and the ivy off. Instead, I was done with all my work in less than a half of an afternoon. I even trimmed the heavy large vinca which always tries to take over my path-and which I normally have to slowly cut by hand, but it was cut with this saw like a hot knife through butter- what fun! All in about the same time it takes to walk down the path. No kneeling at all! Normally it takes me hours and hours on my knees on the gravel to do that path. I’m an older woman and had no problem with the weight using this. My hands weren’t tired when I was done. Seriously, why didn’t I buy this a lot sooner? I think next spring I’ll plant more boxwoods. WooHoo!”
Complete Buying Guide for Lawn Trimmer Electric
Essential Factors We Consider
When evaluating the best lawn trimmer electric, we focus on several key performance indicators. Power output (measured in amps or volts) determines how well the trimmer handles thick weeds and dense vegetation. Weight and ergonomics affect comfort during extended use, while features like auto-feed systems and adjustable handles enhance usability. Durability, corded vs. cordless operation, and ease of maintenance also play crucial roles in long-term satisfaction. Additionally, we assess value—whether the tool delivers premium performance at a reasonable price point.
Budget Planning
Electric trimmers range from budget-friendly models under $50 to premium cordless kits over $200. For light-duty use around flower beds and edges, a basic corded model like the BLACK+DECKER BESTE620 offers excellent value. If you need mobility and versatility, consider a battery-powered option like the Greenworks 40V Combo Kit. Always factor in the cost of batteries and chargers for cordless models, as these can add up over time. Remember, investing a bit more often means fewer replacements and better performance year after year.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right lawn trimmer electric comes down to matching your yard size, maintenance frequency, and personal preferences. Corded models provide consistent power and are ideal for smaller to medium lawns near an outlet. Cordless trimmers offer unmatched convenience and are perfect for larger properties or users who dislike dealing with extension cords. Regardless of your choice, prioritize reliability, ease of use, and features that reduce physical strain. With the top models tested above, you’re well-equipped to find a trimmer that keeps your lawn looking sharp—effortlessly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are electric trimmers better than gas trimmers?
A: Electric trimmers are generally quieter, lighter, and require less maintenance than gas models. They’re ideal for light to medium-duty yard work and are more environmentally friendly. Gas trimmers offer more power and longer runtime but come with higher noise levels, emissions, and maintenance needs.
Q: How long do electric trimmer batteries last?
A: Battery life varies by model and usage. Most 40V-80V cordless trimmers provide 30–60 minutes of runtime on a single charge, depending on grass density and trimmer settings. Larger batteries (like 5Ah or higher) extend usage time significantly.
Q: Can I use an electric trimmer on wet grass?
A: It’s not recommended to use electric trimmers on wet grass due to electrical safety risks. Wet conditions increase the chance of short circuits and reduce traction. Always wait for the lawn to dry before trimming.
Q: What’s the difference between a trimmer and an edger?
A: A trimmer cuts grass and weeds along edges and around obstacles using a spinning nylon line. An edger creates clean, defined borders along sidewalks and flower beds. Many modern trimmers, like the BLACK+DECKER 2-in-1 models, include edging capabilities.
Q: Do I need to wear hearing protection with electric trimmers?
A: Most electric trimmers operate below 85 decibels, which is quieter than gas models. However, if you’re sensitive to noise or use the trimmer frequently, light ear protection is always a safe choice.
