Customer Review: I absolutely love this trimmer — it runs smoothly and quietly — my others chatter with blade noise and vibrate — yes, I agree that it is heavy — the mostly metal shafts and innards make it so — this has a Professional feel to it although the price doesn’t reflect that — non-pole 20″ versions are priced about the same — I found it took awhile to get used to the handle being at the bottom end of the shaft — I believe that I was able to cash in on those units that were returned just because of the weight — I got this 1/2 price (“used”) and cannot tell that it is not new — even the book is still in its original plastic — the packing was a bit lacking but not an issue (came in original box) — for 40 years I trimmed 200′ of Hedges so I’ve been through a variety of trimmers (I don’t live there anymore) — after charging the Battery, I trimmed a 20′ Maple tree, 25′ of hedges and 2 15′ tall schrubs all without a ladder (don’t know the variety but not in the Pine family) — this was so much quicker and a whole lot more accurate than anything that I have used in the past, even Gas powered — shorter hedges, 25″, were a challenge because I trim them with rounded side curves front and back — it takes a minute to figure out how to trim verticle with this (20″ blade, 25″ hedge, trigger on the bottom) — this doesn’t bounce off of the ground when cutting vertically because of an end cap at the end — the end result is fantastic — the lines are straighter than I have ever been able to do — because of the somewhat slower speed of a Battery operated Trimmer, I did have some issues with cutting thicker branches (these Battery Trimmers tend to shake the thicker stuff rather than cut it) — when I was done I still had 2 bars left on the Battery — I am 74 M with balance issues — my wife was very happy that I didn’t need a ladder — I didn’t investigate the competitors weight issues — I stopped when I saw this was available under the “used” link — don’t be fooled with lighter versions that have shorter blades and have less powerful motors

Customer Review: Have been using it for a few weeks and found it to be not to strong. It can cut branches smaller than the max size it is for, but takes some time. For very thin/weak branches it works ok. It needs to be 40Volts. The battery last and charges fast.

Customer Review: I really like that it’s adjustable for different angles. Makes getting into certain spots much easier than with a regular hedge trimmer. Being able to adjust the angle of it is just awesome. But on the other hand it can be a pain in the neck to adjust it with the two small adjustment levers that close to the cutting blades. I really wish it just had a nice simple push button on hinge part instead. Would make it easier and safer IMO because your hands wouldn’t be so close to the cutters. Overall it cuts and trims hedges and bushes very well. Mounts up to the power head just like the string trimmer attachment does. Runs fine with 60v cordless power head. Good solid attachment.

Customer Review: The trimmer works well. The adjustable pole length and adjustable cutter blade angle facilitates work without having to climb a ladder. The unit is very end heavy on the trimmer end because the electric motor is at the end of the pole. The weight and maneuverability is adversely affected when you lengthen the pole. The carrying harness to clip the unit into to help support the weight seems impossible to configure in a way that actually supports the weight. Bottom line: the unit cuts well but is very cutter end heavy. As I only do this kind of work “once” a year for my own yard, I’m OK with it, especially for the price. If I had to use a pole hedge trimmer often, I would probably spring for the additional money to get a battery operated or even a gas one just to have the additional weight on the handle end to help balance.

Customer Review: I have a 50′ row of Arborvitae shrubs that are 15′ tall and 8′ to 10′ wide, and the kicker is that you can’t get to the back side of the shurbs, so all trimming must be done from one side. As you can guess, giving them a haircut is quite a job. In the past I have rented a long handled gas powered trimmer, but when I tried to rent it this year they said that it had broken and since there was hardly any demand for it, they weren’t going to replace it. A couple of years ago I paid a lawn care guy to trim them for me but that cost me $500, so I wasn’t wanting to do that again. So, after researching online I bought the GarCare pole hedge trimmer. Just got through trimming the shrubs so thought I’d post a review while it is still fresh in my memory. I obviously can’t speak to longevity of the device, but I can definitely speak to the features.Ok, let’s start with the CONS:For me, there’s only one, actually. As others have stated, it is definitely heavy, especially if, as I did, you are standing on the 2nd from top step of a 14′ ladder and using the trimmer in fully extended mode, trying to reach the far side of a 10′ wide row of shrubs. It’s doable, but it’s definitely not easy. It would be really terrific if they made a model with the electric motor at the end of the handle (like the long pole gas trimmers) rather than at the cutting blade, although I know that raises the complexity of the device. In any case, I almost don’t want to list this as a “CON” because the device definitely works as designed and intended. It might be better to call it an “observation” rather than a “con”, but it’s definitely something to be aware of if you are looking at purchasing this trimmer.Ok, now for the PROS:The “laser” cutting blade is SHARP!!!! This thing cut through my 1/2 to 3/4″ thick stems with ease. This is extremely important since, as noted above, when you are holding this at full extension you want it to cut fast so that you don’t have to hold it fully extended any longer than necessary. This thing just blazed through my shrubs. Amazing!The build quality seems to be excellent. I was a bit worried that something that extends as long as this does might be flimsy when extended, but it isn’t. The slider connections are solid and well designed and the tube slider slides effortlessly. I was constantly adjusting the length from as short as possible to full extension while standing on the aforementioned 14′ ladder and never had a problem getting the adjustment that I needed.So, in summary, this trimmer was a terrific purchase! Hopefully it will stand the test of time, since I plan on using it for years to come. Unless, of course, they come with a model with the motor built into the handle end… 😉

Customer Review: Instructions were horrendously unclear and the print is tiny. This model and the one without the telescopic tube are both presented together and they don’t make clear which one a given step applies to. Many of the features in the description didn’t seem to match what’s on the product as a result. The telescopic tube was hard to pull out and snapped back inside the tube when I let it go. I googled “Garcare GPHT07 assembly” and found a video that was helpful enough to figure out the assembly, and there really isn’t much to it, thankfully, although in the demonstration the tube doesn’t snap back inside when it’s extended – still don’t understand why mine does. But once I put it together, I have to say it worked great. I’ve only used it once so far but was able to trim four large hedges, one of them about 12 feet tall or more, in under an hour (they were very overgrown). The product is heavy, but I expected that due to the design.

Customer Review: For the price it’s a great bargain. I used it right away to trim a dozen trees and it was very easy. I love the sectioned handles because I can adjust the length easily to fit high or tight places both. Highly recommend. It’s not a super sturdy blade but it is sharp and the pull hook tip at the end is super sharp and is great to yank the cut branches down from high places after initial cut is made. Very happy.

Customer Review: The items came in a small box with 8 segments that are easily attached, getting to about 9′ 2.5″ in length. The segments are preformed (which I think is a way better than having holes that would need to be oriented correctly for fastening) to create a strong pole where the connecting sections are covered with blue plastic. The blade is about 14″ long, held with two screws. The supplier provided two machine screws and nuts, and one spare set, together with a hex key and a small wrench. Hence, you do not anything else to put the pole together. The assembly cannot be more straightforward than it was/is. I suggest maybe adding washers but those are not absolutely necessary. What is also nice is that you can make the pole as short as you need for your work, to not carry the complete extended weights for trimming you need on lower branches. One may object to the length of the blade as it may not appear to be too firm but that is related to the length of the blade exclusively. I got this pole at a discounted price and for that alone was a purchasing jewel.
