Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I bought this hand truck for the extendable lifting shoe. I use it to move skids that weighs about 80 lbs and have a 2 ft square footprint. The extendable lifting shoe sticks out about 20 inches making it easy for one person to lift and move the skids. It works perfectly. The hand truck is all aluminum and built well.

Customer Review: This is my 2nd one. I am sorry to report that a vindictive employee sabotaged my first one and it took quite a lot of force to aim a heave rotor at it and whack off one of the hind wheels!!! (Investigation because of it!), so I needed a replacement. While both models are exactly the same design except the MFG, I do note some improvement in that this one feels and behaves smoother when unfolding and folding back up. With the first I had issue with releasing the handle with the 2 lower gizmos, and I learned that the handle has to be in exactly the correct position for those release gizmos to work. THIS hand cart is smooth, I can fold it up easily, and unfold it. It is light and easy to carry. I deliver auto parts, so there are HEAVY items from car batteries to rotors, totes that carry up to 60lbs. This cart makes my work easy as I place it behind the van and ease items down onto it and wheel it in for delivery. The handle length is perfect. The design is perfect, and I save my arms and back muscles as I can’t lift half the stuff. It is worth every penny, and I did not hesitate to seek a replacement as this tool is ESSENTIAL to my job and well being. I only use it to lug totes and large parts, so I only access the “cart” or wagon feature.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I purchased this wheelbarrow for my barn after looking for something to use to tote horse manure to the manure pile. All the products for ‘barns’ were too expensive and not what I was looking for. This wheelbarrow is made well, easy to put together, lightweight and easy to push or pull. It has a plastic bucket which is nice since it will not rust. The tires are fabulous- a combo of innertube and sturdy rubber.I used it for the first time this morning and am so very pleased. It is not the kind of wheelbarrow that you would mix concrete in but it’s a great wheelbarrow for the price and for the lightweight application I need it for.

Customer Review: The description said, and still says that this item is 25 inches wide. It is actually 27 inches wide from axle end to axle end. We have a garden gate that is 27.5 inches wide, and so this is hard to squeeze through there.Assembly was simple, but not easy if you find it hard to bend and work on the ground/floor. Ignore the included small 5mm Allen wrench and small 13mm wrench, and use much larger ones if you have them. You also need pliers for the cotter pins and a pump to Inflate tires to around 20 PSI. You get one extra cotter pin. Stock up on 1.5″ pins for future tire changes etc.The 14 inch tires roll easily over loose gravel etc. This type of foam rubber handgrip always rots in the sun, so park it in shade if you can.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: This thing works great. It doesn’t look like it should. The wheels are kind of small. But it gets the job done. I’ve been able to much more easily move multiple heavy boxes with this as opposed to carrying them down one by one. I wish the handle was actually slightly longer. It would make it easier to go down without using much back strength to stabilize the load. As it is, this thing saves a lot of labor on the stairs, but your back will still feel it after awhile. It does save the legs and arms quite a lot.I was also able to move some quite large pieces of furniture effectively – but that needed a second person to make sure it didn’t fall off the end of the dolly. I moved a huge wooden wardrobe – about 6′ tall and 3×4′ around. I would say it excels at moving smaller loads – 2-3 heavy boxes – like three U-Haul Small boxes or two Medium ( even one Medium and one Large.Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase.

Customer Review: this thing is terrific! makes carrying all the cases of pop and water up the stairs and in the door to the house so much easier! if you’ve got an aching back, you need this. very sturdy and well made, too

Budget Planning

Wheelbarrows and stair carts designed for stairs can range in price. While some basic models might seem budget-friendly, investing a bit more in a specialized stair-climbing cart or a heavy-duty, stable wheelbarrow often pays off in the long run through increased durability and safety. Generally, you can expect to find capable options anywhere from $100 to $300. Hand trucks designed for stair climbing tend to be more affordable than full-sized wheelbarrows, making them an excellent budget-friendly choice for lighter tasks. Consider your expected usage and the types of materials you’ll be moving when setting your budget.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the right wheelbarrow for stairs ultimately depends on your specific needs. Whether you need a versatile convertible hand truck, a stable two-wheeled yard cart, or a dedicated stair-climbing dolly, there’s a product out there to make your life easier. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What makes a wheelbarrow good for stairs?

A: A good wheelbarrow for stairs typically has features that enhance stability and control. This can include multiple wheels (like two or a three-wheel setup), a lower center of gravity, good tire traction, ergonomic handles for a secure grip, and sometimes even integrated braking systems. These features help prevent tipping and allow for safer, more controlled movement up and down inclines.

Q: Can I use a regular wheelbarrow on stairs?

A: While it’s possible, it’s not recommended and can be dangerous. Standard single-wheeled wheelbarrows are designed for flat surfaces and can become very unstable and difficult to control on stairs. The risk of tipping, losing your load, or causing injury is significantly higher. Specialized stair carts or heavily modified wheelbarrows are much safer and more effective.

Q: What’s the difference between a hand truck and a wheelbarrow for stairs?

A: A hand truck is typically a two-wheeled cart designed for upright loads, often with a folding frame and a small platform. They are generally lighter and more maneuverable for smaller, taller items and excel at stair climbing. A wheelbarrow is usually a single or two-wheeled basin designed for larger, bulkier loads. Some convertible models blend these features, offering the best of both worlds.

Q: How much weight can a stair climbing cart typically hold?

A: The weight capacity varies greatly by design. Lighter-duty stair climbing carts (often more like enhanced hand trucks) might hold up to 200-300 lbs, while heavy-duty models built with robust materials can manage 400-600 lbs or even more. Always check the product specifications to ensure it meets your load requirements.

Q: Are stair climbing wheelbarrows difficult to assemble?

A: Most stair climbing wheelbarrows and carts are designed for relatively straightforward assembly, often requiring just a few common tools like a wrench or screwdriver. Many come with clear instructions and all necessary hardware. If you’re not mechanically inclined, it’s worth checking product reviews for comments on ease of assembly.
