Customer Review:
I have a 50′ row of Arborvitae shrubs that are 15′ tall and 8′ to 10′ wide, and the kicker is that you can’t get to the back side of the shrubs, so all trimming must be done from one side. As you can guess, giving them a haircut is quite a job. In the past I have rented a long handled gas powered trimmer, but when I tried to rent it this year they said that it had broken and since there was hardly any demand for it, they weren’t going to replace it. A couple of years ago I paid a lawn care guy to trim them for me but that cost me $500, so I wasn’t wanting to do that again. So, after researching online I bought the GarCare pole hedge trimmer. Just got through trimming the shrubs so thought I’d post a review while it is still fresh in my memory. I obviously can’t speak to longevity of the device, but I can definitely speak to the features. Ok, let’s start with the CONS: For me, there’s only one, actually. As others have stated, it is definitely heavy, especially if, as I did, you are standing on the 2nd from top step of a 14′ ladder and using the trimmer in fully extended mode, trying to reach the far side of a 10′ wide row of shrubs. It’s doable, but it’s definitely not easy. It would be really terrific if they made a model with the electric motor at the end of the handle (like the long pole gas trimmers) rather than at the cutting blade, although I know that raises the complexity of the device. In any case, I almost don’t want to list this as a “CON” because the device definitely works as designed and intended. It might be better to call it an “observation” rather than a “con”, but it’s definitely something to be aware of if you are looking at purchasing this trimmer. Ok, now for the PROS: The “laser” cutting blade is SHARP!!!! This thing cut through my 1/2 to 3/4″ thick shrub stems with ease. This is extremely important since, as noted above, when you are holding this at full extension you want it to cut fast so that you don’t have to hold it fully extended any longer than necessary. This thing just blazed through my shrubs. Amazing! The build quality seems to be excellent. I was a bit worried that something that extends as long as this does might be flimsy when extended, but it isn’t. The slider connections are solid and well designed and the tube slider slides effortlessly. I was constantly adjusting the length from as short as possible to full extension while standing on the aforementioned 14′ ladder and never had a problem getting the adjustment that I needed. So, in summary, this trimmer was a terrific purchase! Hopefully it will stand the test of time, since I plan on using it for years to come. Unless, of course, they come with a model with the motor built into the handle end… ;)’
Customer Review:
Instructions were horrendously unclear and the print is tiny. This model and the one without the telescopic tube are both presented together and they don’t make clear which one a given step applies to. Many of the features in the description didn’t seem to match what’s on the product as a result. The telescopic tube was hard to pull out and snapped back inside the tube when I let it go. I googled “Garcare GPHT07 assembly” and found a video that was helpful enough to figure out the assembly, and there really isn’t much to it, thankfully, although in the demonstration the tube doesn’t snap back inside when it’s extended – still don’t understand why mine does. But once I put it together, I have to say it worked great. I’ve only used it once so far but was able to trim four large hedges, one of them about 12 feet tall or more, in under an hour (they were very overgrown). The product is heavy, but I expected that due to the design.

Customer Review:
I’m in love with this product!!! I have always had a hard time trying to top and trim the sides of my small cypress trees with a normal hedger, it’s difficult and dangerous for a 5″0 55 year old girl like me to climb a ladder with it. This little hedger is so light and powerful! I was able to do the job with ease. I also trimmed other plants around the house all in a short time. Made me feel like Wonder Woman! Lol so easy to use and charge. Buy it!!
Customer Review:
What a wonderful piece of gardening equipment! It is light, can be used by both hands. Does a marvelous job. In the passed I have struggled with hand croppers–took forever , results looked uneven and I was exhausted. This little baby easily took care of 3 large yews and two other bushes with one charge. It looks like a professional did the job. With any of these small shears one has to be careful when reaching down cutting the lower growth not to include cutting your legs. I would strongly recommend this reasonable priced product!

Customer Review:
This two pack of handy garden tools consists of a Leaf blower and a Hedge trimmer that will accommodate DeWalt 20V Max style batteries! An excellent bargain in a two pack of tools that most people will use to clean off their patio after trimming their garden bushes, for example. Tried and tested, they both work fantastic! They look great even though these are not actual DeWalt Tools they do have the same color scheme as the DeWalt tool line, matching them perfectly. The Hedge trimmer comes with a nice safety storage sleeve for the dual sided cutting blade. Also for safety, I like how the Hedge trimmer D-Handle requires a grip along with the trigger to operate it. There is an inner safety bar that wraps around the inner side of the D-Handle for optimum gripping and safe usability, it does not limit or inhibit the operation. The Blower has a 5 speed thumb wheel control (1-5) and is located at the top forward section of the grip handle, very easy to reach and to control. Great Quality and both together are an Excellent Value, very nice!
Customer Review:
Nicely packages and works perfectly with after market HOCHSTERN 2Pack 6.0Ah Replacement for Dewalt 20V MAX Battery and Charger Combo. The blower has adjustable speed and it is like a mini tornado. The bush trimmer is sufficiently long. Most likely an occasional cleaning and oiling of the blade is recommended. The mentioned after market battery snaps in with ease. Happy with the purchase.

Complete Buying Guide for Best Hedge Trimmer For Mini Digger
Essential Factors We Consider
When looking for the best hedge trimmer to use with a mini digger, we prioritize a few key elements. First and foremost is the attachment capability – does it easily connect and operate with a mini digger’s hydraulic system? Power is another crucial factor; you’ll want a trimmer with a robust motor and sharp blades that can handle dense foliage efficiently. Reach and maneuverability are also vital. A long reach helps tackle tall hedges without complex setups, while an adjustable head increases versatility. Finally, durability is paramount, as these tools are often used in demanding conditions, making them ideal for durability.
Budget Planning
The cost of hedge trimmers can vary significantly. For direct mini digger attachments, you can expect a higher investment due to their specialized nature and robust construction. However, if you’re looking for complementary tools that work well after heavy clearing, more portable options like pole trimmers or cordless hedge trimmers offer excellent value. When budgeting, consider not just the initial purchase price but also the long-term costs, including maintenance and potential power source expenses (like batteries or electricity).
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right hedge trimmer for your mini digger setup depends on your specific needs and budget. For direct integration, look for specialized attachments. For finishing work and more accessible hedges, portable, powerful trimmers offer great flexibility. Always consider the type of hedges you’ll be working with – thicker branches might require more power, while intricate shaping demands precision. Exploring options like those highlighted here will help you find the perfect tool to enhance your landscaping efficiency.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can any hedge trimmer be attached to a mini digger?
A: No, not all hedge trimmers are designed for direct attachment to a mini digger. You’ll typically need specialized hydraulic attachments or brush cutter heads designed to be powered by the mini digger’s auxiliary hydraulics. Many users opt for portable hedge trimmers that complement the mini digger’s work rather than directly attaching.
Q: What kind of power source is best for hedge trimming with a mini digger?
A: For direct mini digger attachments, the power comes from the digger’s hydraulic system. For portable hedge trimmers used alongside a mini digger, options include corded electric for consistent power, battery-powered for freedom of movement (consider battery life), or gas-powered for maximum power on larger jobs.
Q: How do I choose the right blade length for my needs?
A: Blade length depends on the size of your hedges. Shorter blades (16-20 inches) are better for precise shaping and smaller hedges, offering better maneuverability. Longer blades (22 inches and above) are more efficient for trimming large, straight hedges quickly, and are ideal for reaching further when using tools like pole hedge trimmers.
Q: Are cordless hedge trimmers powerful enough for thick branches?
A: While cordless technology has advanced significantly, the power of cordless trimmers varies. For very thick branches (over 3/4 inch), you might need a high-powered corded or gas model, or a specialized attachment designed for heavy-duty cutting. Many cordless models are excellent for thick branches when they are within their specified capacity.
Q: What safety precautions should I take when using a hedge trimmer with a mini digger?
A: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Ensure the area is clear of bystanders and any obstacles. For direct mini digger attachments, be aware of the machine’s stability and ensure proper training in operating hydraulic attachments. Always disconnect power or the hydraulic source before performing maintenance or blade changes.
Finding the perfect hedge trimmer to complement your mini digger can significantly speed up your landscaping and property maintenance tasks. Whether you need a powerful, integrated attachment for heavy-duty clearing or a versatile portable tool for detailed work, there’s an option to fit your needs. By considering power, reach, blade type, and your specific workflow, you can select a tool that makes managing even the most overgrown hedges a breeze. Explore the options above and take the next step towards a perfectly manicured landscape!
