Customer Reviews
Customer Review: Went together quickly, I’d guess around 30 minutes time, and has mixed around 12 batches of concrete so far. Each batch 4 bags @ 80 lbs each. You can hear the motor work just a little harder when you add the 4th bag, but no sweat. Tipping/pouring works well and it cleans up easily.

Customer Review: This is a great machine. I have used it to mix cement for 30 fence post holes, and it is soooo much better than mixing by hand in my wheel barrow or gorilla cart. When building a fence, there is always a chance of some adjustment to a post/hole you thought was ready to poor and set. Leaving the mixed cement in a stationary wheel barrow while you address the issue gives the cement a chance to settle out and requires another round of getting it stirred back up. With this mixer, you just let it spin, and when you’re ready to fill the hole, it’s ready to go. I easily saved 3 hours of labor by using this mixer on the 30 posts I’ve set so far. I expect it to pay for itself within just a few more fence projects. It runs smooth, moves easily even while loaded. I’m very happy with it.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: Update (9/21/2022)- I used it again to pour a 12’x14′ pad for my father-in-laws shop. I tore the bag on some rebar dragging it around. It still works but I added a patch to finish the project. If I have another project I will not hesitate to order another one. I much prefer mixing with two people but you can manage with just one. I split 80lb bags in half to mix and pour with one person. It is a workout but works great! It makes it easy to pour into tubes and makes less mess than a mixer and a wheelbarrow.Original Post-I was skeptical when I bought this thing. I have always ordered cement or used a cement mixer/ wheel barrow. Never again! If you use premixed bags of cement you need this thing.I poured 15- 10 inch pillar supports for my deck this past week. This thing was awesome! I used 110- 50 lb bags. I found two people mixing and one pouring worked the best. It took under 10 minutes to fill each concrete tube. That is around eight to ten bags in each tube in less time than one bag with a mixer and wheel barrow. I also liked the control when pouring into the tube. There was very little wasted concrete around the tube when finished, thus saving money. It does use muscles you never knew you had but if you are used to some manual labor this thing is a piece of cake.Yes it is expensive, but you get a quality product that will last years and the inventor deserves to get some $$ for coming up with this ingenious mixer. I would buy again for my next project, but the one I have is almost as clean as when I started so I won’t have to, ever.

Customer Review: Mixed over 10 80lb bags with a rented mixer one weekend to fix large pool deck repair cut outs. The following weekend, mixed at least another 14 with this mix bag to finish the job. Had a couple family members – one to pair up on the mixing and one of us would spray water into the mix as we went. Took a minute or less to mix an 80lb bag. The whole job was much faster than when I did the job with the mixer on my own.I saw a reviewer say he thinks mixing it up with a hoe would have been easier. I could not disagree more. I will never even rent a mixer again over using this (and that has nothing to do with avoiding the rental fee) and I can’t imagine even considering a wheel barrow or mixing container + hoe ever again. Could easily use this bag with one person for just a couple bags without getting worn out. Clean up also super simple and easy.Father-in-law happened to stop by right when we were starting the job and, eyebrow raised, asked if I was opposed for some reason to using the classic hoe method. Now he’s sold on this as well.I highly recommend this. The only negative is how dumb you feel for not thinking of something this simple yourself.

– Alex T.
Customer Review: As a fairly new DIYer, I am remodeling the laundry room floor from vinyl to tile. I was going to use my drill to mix up thin set, until I read several reviewers warning against this, due to the risk of burning out the drill’s motor. So I researched and found this, and after reading the reviews, decided to purchase. Putting the parts together was simple, it functions well, and I love the various speed settings to choose from. While I’m not sure how well this will last over the years, this seems durable for what I’m using it for. So If I can lay tile for 2 or 3 rooms and then it decides to die, the $49 dollars spent on this tool was more than worth it.

Complete Buying Guide for Best Wheelbarrow For Mixing Concrete
Essential Factors We Consider
When selecting the best wheelbarrow for mixing concrete, we focus on a few key elements. First, durability is paramount; you need a tub that won’t crack or bend under heavy loads, and a sturdy frame that can withstand constant use. Capacity is also critical – a larger tub means fewer trips and more efficient mixing. We also consider the wheel type and tire material, as they impact maneuverability on uneven terrain. Finally, the overall balance and ergonomics play a huge role, especially for tasks that require significant physical effort like concrete work.
Budget Planning
The price range for wheelbarrows suitable for concrete work can vary significantly. Basic, lighter-duty models might be more budget-friendly, but they often compromise on durability. For mixing concrete, investing in a heavier-duty model, perhaps one with a powered mixer function or a robust steel or thick poly tub, is often worth the extra cost. Consider that a well-chosen wheelbarrow can last for many years, making it a cost-effective tool for numerous projects. You can find excellent value by looking at options that offer a good balance of features and price, much like when searching for the best wheelbarrow for the money.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right wheelbarrow for mixing concrete is about finding a tool that can handle the weight, volume, and demands of the job. Whether you opt for a specialized mixer or a heavy-duty cart that assists in material transport, prioritizing durability, capacity, and ease of use will ensure your concrete projects are completed successfully and with less strain. Remember to consider the scale of your typical projects and your physical capabilities when making your final decision.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the ideal tub material for a concrete mixing wheelbarrow?
A: For mixing concrete, a steel or heavy-duty, thick poly tub is generally recommended. Steel offers superior durability but can rust if not properly maintained. Thick poly tubs are lighter, rust-proof, and can be very durable, but a thinner poly tub might crack under heavy loads. Look for tubs specifically rated for heavy-duty use.
Q: How important are the tires on a concrete wheelbarrow?
A: Very important. Pneumatic tires (air-filled) offer the best shock absorption and traction, especially on rough terrain. However, they are prone to punctures, which can be a major inconvenience when mixing concrete. Flat-free or solid tires are a great alternative, eliminating the risk of flats, though they might offer a slightly less smooth ride.
Q: Can I use a regular garden wheelbarrow for mixing concrete?
A: You can, but it’s not ideal for large or frequent jobs. Regular garden wheelbarrows are often lighter duty and may not withstand the constant stress of heavy, wet concrete. If you only have a small project, it might suffice, but for anything more substantial, a dedicated heavy-duty wheelbarrow or a mixer is a better investment.
Q: What capacity wheelbarrow do I need for mixing concrete?
A: For most DIY projects, a wheelbarrow with a capacity of 6 to 8 cubic feet is sufficient. If you’re undertaking larger commercial jobs, you might consider even larger capacities or a powered mixer. It’s always better to have a little extra space than to have to make too many trips.
Q: Are powered concrete mixers better than wheelbarrows?
A: Powered concrete mixers are generally more efficient and less physically demanding for mixing concrete, especially for larger batches. However, they are also more expensive and less versatile than a wheelbarrow. A wheelbarrow is still essential for transporting the mixed concrete to its final destination, making it a complementary tool rather than a direct replacement in many scenarios.
When it comes to tackling concrete projects, the right equipment can save you time, effort, and frustration. We hope this guide has helped you find the perfect wheelbarrow for your needs, whether you’re looking for a dedicated mixing machine or a robust hauling companion. Happy building!
