Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I live Augusta, GA where my neighborhood was completely decimated by Hurricane Helene. Between that and a tornado ripping through my front yard, I lost three enormous, beautiful trees, one older than the U.S. Declaration of Independence. I decided to memorialize these beautiful trees with various fields of wild flowers, starting with the area directly below my kitchen window. I CANNOT say enough positive things about this tiller:1. It’s easy to assemble. 10 minutes from the box.2. It’s powerful.3. It’s easy to operate. If you can walk a dog or a precocious child, you can operate this tool.4. The breath and depth of this machine’s ability to unearth small/medium sized roots is nothing short of miraculous. Also surprising was its removal of the entire areas’s layers of anti-weed cloth that was laid down by the previous home owners. I didn’t intend on removing the layer of cloth, but the machine had other ideas so I went along with the plan. I’m glad I did because it’s one helluva cleaner area now.5. One of the most impressive discoveries early on was my walking backwards with the tiller and lifting slightly towards my chest which causes the machine to pitch forward and dig deeper to really loosen that rich and moist soil – – doing so removed the need for me to even consider buying any amount of new dirt for the wildflower seeds I’ll be throwing down. I think this was one of the most useful motions used during the entire process.6. Because my area was so packed with years of roots and layer of cloth, I did have to stop the machine three times in the 90 minutes I was tilling in order to remove the wrappings of the materials around the spool. But that’s expected from all tillers. The area pictured (before and after) took me 90 minutes from start to finish. I am relentlessly meticulous about yard work. Someone else may have done it quicker. I promise you, had I not used this tiller, (a) my back would be shot by now, (b) I would be no where done – manually tilled, this would have easily been a 3-5 hour job and likely cost me a bad back for the next two weeks. I’m ready to start hitting the other areas where the tress used to be. Make no mistake, this tiller is the best decision you can make. It’s sturdy, effective, and the cost is WELL beyond reasonable. Happy Tilling!!!!

Customer Review: I wish i would have bought this earlier, it has saved my back the pain from hoeing up the garden. So easy to use (as long as you keep an eye out for the eletrical cord). It cuts through raspberry roots very easy, and tree roots that are small like 1/2 inch in size. I love that it folds up and fits easy in my closet. Easy to put into my car trunk. It is light weight. The only downside is that i would have to stop every so often to clear out the roots that wrap around the tines, but that is expected from all tillers.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: This tiller has been a game-changer for my backyard garden. I live in a region with heavy clay soil, and nothing seemed to break through it without a fight. But this machine chewed through roots and compacted earth like they were sand. Assembly was straightforward, and I was tilling within 20 minutes. The only minor issue is that the cord is a bit short, so I had to plan my path around outlet placement. Still, I’d recommend it to anyone with tough soil.

Customer Review: I bought this to prepare my garden after removing old shrubs. It worked incredibly well—cut through old roots and even removed a layer of landscaping fabric I didn’t know was there. The machine is powerful but still manageable to control. Just be sure to keep the tines clear when you see material wrapping around them. Overall, very satisfied and would buy again.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: This thing works better and is more powerful than I ever expected! The tines snag and remove roots. Easy to clean. Battery life better than I expected. Perfect for my raised garden beds and churning my compost pile.

Customer Review: I ordered this to do small tiller projects such as garden and flower bed edging and weeding. I selected this model mostly due to the compatibility with Dewalt batteries. I have used this tiller twice now. I’m impressed with it power and functionality. It is heavy enough to easily work the soil, but light enough to not be overly burdensome. I was initially concerned with battery life of any of the models I looked at. Most came with two batteries, but were small batteries. I initially used a Dewalt 4 amp hour battery for some light usage and my fears were realized. The battery was discharged by a third with light usage. The second time I used it I switched to a larger flex volt battery which held up well. Since I have many Dewalt batteries, battery life is not an issue.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: This thing is awesome and kinda dangerous. Very powerful and incredible torque. Lightweight. Probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to add weight to it. I’ve used it to till the ground in my chicken coop and backyard that is very hard solid black clay and it chews through like nothing. Very impressive. I’d recommend some locktite for the bolts tho. Also, it’s either full throttle or off. But it will do the trick and do it well.

Customer Review: The IncwBo Electric Rototiller is a powerful and lightweight option for small to medium gardens. With a 16-inch tilling width and 8-inch depth, it effortlessly tackles compacted soil, clay, and weeds, thanks to its six rust-resistant steel blades and 380RPM motor. The adjustable wheels and spur enhance maneuverability and control. While it excels in breaking ground and mixing fertilizers, the corded design requires careful management to avoid tangling. Overall, it’s a reliable, budget-friendly choice for gardeners seeking efficiency without the hassle of gas-powered alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What’s the difference between a rototiller and a cultivator?

A: A rototiller is designed to break up hard, compacted soil and turn over large areas—ideal for new lawn establishment or planting. A cultivator is lighter and meant for loosening already prepared soil and weeding around plants without disturbing deep roots.

Q: Can I use an electric tiller on clay soil?

A: Yes, many electric tillers—especially those with 12+ amp motors and deep tines—handle clay effectively. Look for models with wider tilling widths and multiple steel blades to break through dense material.

Q: Do I need to buy a battery separately for the Dewalt-compatible tiller?

A: Yes, the Dewalt 20V tiller does not include a battery or charger. You’ll need to use your existing Dewalt 20V battery or purchase one separately to operate the unit.

Q: How often should I clear the tines during use?

A: You may need to stop and clear wrapped material every 15–30 minutes depending on soil conditions. Roots, weeds, and debris can accumulate around the tines, so regular checks ensure consistent performance and prevent overheating.

Q: Are electric tillers quieter than gas models?

A: Absolutely. Electric tillers operate much more quietly since they lack an internal combustion engine. This makes them ideal for early morning or evening use without disturbing neighbors.

Preparing your garden soil doesn’t have to be back-breaking work. With the right tiller under $500, you can transform even the toughest soil into a fertile foundation for thriving plants.
