Customer Review: “FINALLY got to the place in the yard project where it was TIME for leveling (BEFORE the ‘snow is flying’!)I put this together when it first arrived. It really is HEAVY weight and HEAVY DUTY too.I APPRECIATE how well the segmented handle goes together. (We’ve gotten a couple other similarly put together yard tools where there was NO WAY to have the handle feel SOLID! (Get the parts attached -yes – but too much play in the handles to feel right. THIS ONE – the HANDLE IS SOLID AS A ROCK. If I hadn’t JUST put it all together – and maybe I was blindfolded?! – I would not have thought it was a ‘put together’ handle. It FEELS as solid as an old wood one!(Even when ALL segments are used and the handle is SUPER LONG!)Putting all the parts together was a BIT of project.Not especially difficult or complex – but there are a fair number of parts to connect.I’m not SURE if the (OPTIONAL per instructions) ‘hand-hold’ you can put anywhere on the handle which works best for YOU is installed correctly. It IS helpful controlling the ‘rake head’ – and making sure you have enough UMPH to do the job – but it does also feel … OPTIONAL too! WEAR GRIPPY GLOVES might be almost as useful.(DO loosen the soil at least a little before you attempt leveling . Maybe if you have SAND you could skip that – or if you’re adding a layer of light soil to an already grassy surface – but heavy/compacted soil … (we have more clay than strictly needed!) … you WILL be SAD if you try leveling without loosening first!A little finesse was required while putting together the wide, actual ‘rake’ part. It IS a little hard to get that working end as close to JUST RIGHT as possible. It took me a few tries to get the 4 sections lined up as closely/evenly and flatly as I could get them – and they still ARE not ‘perfect’. I seem to have a permanent (very shallow) ARCH in the middle instead of having it be totally flat across the whole length.Could be it’s that way ON PURPOSE. I don’t claim to be an expert ‘leveler’. It DOES work well enough for my pretty good is FINE enough yard. (NO world class putting greens for me! Cover some roots and fill in some holes – I’m OK!)A wise man once said something like ‘Perfect is the enemy of good enough’. This leveling rake is GOOD ENOUGH for one big (or many small) home-scale leveling projects. If I was going to go PRO as a leveler – I think I’d want something a little MORE perfect?!”
