Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I purchased this wheelbarrow for my barn after looking for something to use to tote horse manure to the manure pile. All the products for ‘barns’ were too expensive and not what I was looking for. This wheelbarrow is made well, easy to put together, lightweight and easy to push or pull. It has a plastic bucket which is nice since it will not rust. The tires are fabulous- a combo of innertube and sturdy rubber.I used it for the first time this morning and am so very pleased. It is not the kind of wheelbarrow that you would mix concrete in but it’s a great wheelbarrow for the price and for the lightweight application I need it for.
Customer Review: The description said, and still says that this item is 25 inches wide. It is actually 27 inches wide from axle end to axle end. We have a garden gate that is 27.5 inches wide, and so this is hard to squeeze through there.Assembly was simple, but not easy if you find it hard to bend and work on the ground/floor. Ignore the included small 5mm Allen wrench and small 13mm wrench, and use much larger ones if you have them. You also need pliers for the cotter pins and a pump to Inflate tires to around 20 PSI. You get one extra cotter pin. Stock up on 1.5″ pins for future tire changes etc.The 14 inch tires roll easily over loose gravel etc. This type of foam rubber handgrip always rots in the sun, so park it in shade if you can.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: When I took delivery, the tub had a puncture in it, most likely from the parts jostling around during shipment.I immediately contacted gorilla for a parts replacement. their website made it very easy to find the part and request warranty repair.within a day, they approved and shipped me out a replacement tub! a few days later, it arrived and i swapped the damaged tub for the new tub!a few things of note about this experience and product:1) gorillas warranty is pretty hassle free and their website is easy to navigate. they have a parts breakdown of everything so if in the future a part is damaged, looks to be easily replaceable/repairable.2) their cart’s design is pretty awesome. really easy to install and uninstall parts. at first i thought the screwholes in the tub were some extra flash, but its designed that way to hold the bolts while you work with the nuts. all the nuts using the same 13mm nut size is so convenient!3) the cart is awesome. i wished i got one sooner. very easy to steer around the property, load it with whatever, and easily dump! its lightweight and perfect for my needs. i just wish the handle was swappable cuz i got a small rc lawnmower that can tow this thing.overall: i am impressed with this cart, but mostly impressed with the company. i can only imagine another company wanting me to ship the whole thing back or just refunding me a certain amount to appease me. gorilla makes great stuff and looks to stand behind their product!im glad i went w gorilla!
Customer Review: Should have bought one of these years ago. Have had this over a month and it’s proved its value, makes moving stuff around the yard far easier than a wheelbarrow (one or two wheeled). No lifting and supporting a weight with your back. No pushing 80# of something uphill. Yes, you have to pull the handle but you can do that with a lot less stress on your back if done correctly. In fact, the right movements are good for your back. Also paid more for this newer model that had the new lifting mechanism. I didn’t see anything visibly wrong with the old one and have no experience with it, but this new one works great. The way the back wheels sort of fold under the cart dumps most or almost all the weight. Then just pull it forward to clear.Small turning radius. Important for maneuvering.Rugged but not heavy (33#). Assembly was straightforward, intuitive, with clear instructions and no missing parts. Didn’t need 6 cubic feet. 4 ft and 600# capacity is as much as I want to handle as well as the overall dimensions (fit through storage doorway).Went with the non-pneumatic tires after having replaced a pneumatic wheel on a wheelbarrow, and enduring repairs, etc., etc. Compare the cost of buying 4 non-pneumatic wheels in the future once you get frustrated, with just buying this model outright. If you get the pneumatic tires, you’ll love the cart but end up hating the… tires. Good luck.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: Ok, let me see if I can clear up a few things. First off, after reading quite a few of the reviews, I “almost” cancelled my order thinking I was ordering some sort of Children;s PlaySchool wheel barrel toy. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Here’s the unbiased truth on this cart. If you are a Construction Worker hauling bags of cement or really heavy materials in bulk, DO NOT purchase this item. This is for the typical home owner that not only needs a wheel barrel that is stable and easy on the back, but a tool that can also convert into something other than a wheel barrel like a dolly, plant lifter or stone hauler. I’ve had two back surgeries and even though I have healed up great, this little gem takes all the weight and I am no longer limited when it comes to landscaping.Sure, the actual cavity could have been a bit bigger but I think the designers looked at the average amount of material people actually put in the “well” area and settled on an ergonomic design that really takes the stress off your back. I am 6’7″ and the way this thing is built with the handles tilted upward, makes lifting and letting the bucket / well down with ease. I’ve had bags of stone, sand, wood chips and such in it and it has plenty of room to get the job done safely. The metal is rugged and thick and I can already tell this unit is going to last a long time. Sure, my other wheel barrel was HUGE but since it was so big, I couldn’t fill it to capacity without worrying about the darn thing tipping on me. As a former power lifter it is not a matter of strength but a matter of stability over terrain when in use.I read on one of the reviews that the bearings came off the plastic wheels? As a former engineer, you would of had to seriously overloaded this cart or tried to use the trailer hitch ball on something with a monster tongue weight to dislodge the bearings. The way I see it, using this cart in a “normal” fashion will provide years of care free use. The fit, finish, and quality of this cart is great, Yes, I am sure that occasionally there may be a defect from the factory for some people but when I looked my cart over in great detail, I found NO faults whatsoever. Even a brand new 100 million dollar aircraft has an occasional fault here and there, show me one product in history that hasn’t.Truth is folks, this little cart is great and I was even able to hang it on the wall in my garage using the hole on the dolly tongue.Took all of ten minutes to put together and test out all the features. Plus, it really is nice to just use this whenever I want and not worry about having to pump up the air filled tires anymore like the one on my old wheel barrel. By the way, I didn’t use my old wheel barrel that much so it sat in the garage for weeks on end but with the AeroCart, I use it for other functions quite a bit and I have since sold my old dolly, made a few dollars cash, and freed up some room in my garage,Would I recommend this? Darn right I would!
Customer Review: This a great “AeroCart Snow Plow” and used it at least a dozen times the last 2 winters. Great for snow but an investment of about 12 cents will make it even better. While “push shoveling” snow, our area also received about an inch of ice over the snow. Because of the weight of the ice while pushing the screw popped out of the shovel blade and bent the bar. This is not a defect, but when a 250 lb guy pushes ice, the blade can only withstand so much. Because this is a life saver to your back, I immediately purchased a new one but made one alteration. I put 3 cent washers behind the screw head (see pic). That will give extra stability to the screw. I also wrapped a bungee cord around the bars. This gave even more stability. You may wonder why I did not use the warranty? Really was not WORX defect or fault. You should never take advantage if you yourself caused the issue. I did and this “push shovel” is not made to push 100 lbs. of ice off a drive. Good Luck.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: Easy, really easy to assemble, you do need a pair or pliers or better a small Crescent wrench, you also need your handy little pocket knife to cut through some packing and the plastic cover over the parts card. Supplied with it comes an Allen wrench, for basic assembly. Use the Crescent only to finish tighten assorted bolts and nuts. Assembled very quickly, probably under 15 minutes – but I did not time it. I do think the cotter pins holding the wheels on the axle were a little light, but I don’t intend on using this for terrible heavy work either. So they may be OK. I don’t think it would stand up to lots of heavy haul, but I bought it for leaves and such.
Customer Review: I’ve read reviews about this cart being toy size, I disagree. I moved 27 cubic yards of mulch this spring using this cart. It is of the right size to slip in between the shrubbery and dump the mulch where it was needed, no need to shovel off the cart. The large wheels made it easy to maneuver it over dips in the yard, stone pathways, etc. You need to keep in mind that it isn’t made of steel and is not intended to mix concrete or haul a load of bricks or other heavy-duty jobs, but it still can do many jobs and is definitely not a toy. Assembly is a bit tricky. The instructions state to not tighten anything until everything is in place and screws have been started before tightening everything down. I followed this and I would say that rule is almost mandatory.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: Perfect for our yardwork needs. It was larger than I expected but I’m very pleased with the functionality of the cart! It’s maneuverability is great and quite easy to operate carrying loads. Assembly was quick while working alone, under the supervision the cat, until she got bored. Once the cart was fully assembled she did seem to enjoy being driven around before I moved it outside to the yard. We’ve been moving mulch and stone and being able to dump the contents was great! The Mrs. truly liked that feature. The cart is very sturdy and of good quality. We thoroughly enjoy working in the yard using this cart. It was as advertised, worth the money spent, and it’s highly recommended!
Customer Review: This wagon is a beast! Everything about it is heavy duty. I read numerous reviews complaining about how difficult it is to assemble, and they’re not wrong. The little old lady with a butter knife for a screwdriver is going to have a rough time. My wife and I had it ready to go in about an hour, but it was worth every minute. As far as its abilities? With a 1200 lb. capacity, you can load this dude up! It rolls easily with a load, and is easy to dump. This guy is PERFECT for a large garden. I easily give it 5 stars and 👍👍.
Complete Buying Guide for Wheelbarrow
Essential Factors We Consider
When evaluating the best rated wheelbarrow, several critical factors determine performance and usability. First, consider the wheel configuration—single-wheel designs offer better maneuverability in tight spaces, while dual-wheel models provide greater stability for heavier loads. The type of tires matters significantly; pneumatic tires absorb shocks and perform better on rough terrain, while solid tires require no maintenance but offer less comfort.
Capacity is another crucial consideration. Most residential wheelbarrows range from 3 to 6 cubic feet, with 5 cubic feet being ideal for most homeowners. However, larger projects may require carts with greater capacity. The material of the tray also affects durability—poly trays resist rust and corrosion, while steel trays offer maximum strength but require maintenance to prevent rust.
Budget Planning
Wheelbarrows vary significantly in price based on features and quality. Basic models typically cost $50-$100 and offer essential functionality for light-duty tasks. Mid-range options ($100-$200) include better tires, more durable construction, and additional features like dumping mechanisms. Premium models ($200+) offer heavy-duty construction, specialized features, and exceptional warranties.
For most homeowners, a mid-range wheelbarrow offers the best value, providing reliable performance without the premium price tag. However, if you frequently undertake heavy-duty landscaping projects, investing in a premium model with higher capacity and durability may be worthwhile.
Final Thoughts
Selecting the best rated wheelbarrow depends on your specific needs, budget, and intended use. Whether you prioritize versatility, capacity, or ease of use, there’s a wheelbarrow designed to meet your requirements. The five models featured in this guide represent the current best-rated options available, each offering unique advantages for different applications.
Remember that the best wheelbarrow for you combines appropriate capacity, comfortable handling, and durable construction that will serve you well season after season. Consider your most common tasks, available storage space, and terrain when making your final decision.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What’s the difference between a single-wheel and dual-wheel wheelbarrow?
A: Single-wheel wheelbarrows pivot around one wheel, making them more maneuverable in tight spaces but potentially unstable when heavily loaded. Dual-wheel designs distribute weight more evenly, providing greater stability for heavier loads and better performance on rough terrain. Dual-wheel models are generally preferred for most residential use due to their superior stability.
Q: Do I need to inflate pneumatic tires on a wheelbarrow?
A: Yes, pneumatic tires require periodic inflation to maintain optimal performance. Most pneumatic tires should be inflated to approximately 20-25 PSI, depending on the manufacturer’s specifications. Under-inflated tires can cause poor handling and increased wear, while over-inflated tires reduce comfort and may lead to blowouts.
Q: How much weight can a typical wheelbarrow hold?
A: Standard residential wheelbarrows typically have a capacity of 300-600 pounds. Smaller models with 3-4 cubic feet capacity usually hold 300-400 pounds, while larger 5-6 cubic foot models can handle 500-600 pounds. Commercial-grade wheelbarrows may have higher capacities, but most homeowners won’t need to exceed 600 pounds.
Q: What material should I choose for the wheelbarrow tray?
A: For most homeowners, poly (plastic) trays offer the best balance of durability and low maintenance. They resist rust and corrosion, don’t require painting, and are lighter than steel. Steel trays are more durable and better for extremely heavy-duty applications but require regular maintenance to prevent rust. Avoid aluminum trays as they can corrode over time.
Q: How do I maintain my wheelbarrow to extend its lifespan?
A: Regular maintenance includes cleaning the tray after each use to prevent buildup of corrosive materials, lubricating any moving parts, checking tire pressure regularly (for pneumatic models), storing in a dry location when not in use, and inspecting bolts and fasteners periodically. For steel models, apply a light coat of oil to exposed metal surfaces to prevent rust.
Finding the best rated wheelbarrow ultimately comes down to matching your specific needs with the right features and capabilities. Whether you choose a versatile multi-tool like the Worx Aerocart, a heavy-duty option like the Gorilla Cart, or a reliable workhorse like the dual-wheel model, each of these top-rated wheelbarrows offers exceptional performance for residential use.
Consider your typical workload, available storage space, and budget when making your selection. Remember that investing in a quality wheelbarrow means fewer replacements over time and less strain on your body during yard work. With the right wheelbarrow, moving dirt, mulch, plants, and tools becomes significantly easier and more enjoyable.
