I clean off the blades with WD40 after use. I have not sharpened the blades, but if necessary, will follow the recommended procedure outlined in the insert. I go through a handheld trimmer every two years and these seem to be of better quality and construction. They are larger in size than my previous trimmers, but weight is not a problem and are not unwiedly.”

I have been using a battery powered weed eater to try to trim the long walkway up to my front porch. However, I usually encounter a depleting battery life before my project is complete. So, when I saw this tool, I decided it was time to try something new. Yes, it takes a little more effort to use this manual tool, but it’s not overpowering or cumbersome to use it. I also plan to use it to fix the edging in the back of my house. I can’t go near that section with a weed eater due to utility lines coming from the ground up and connecting to the house. So, I usually end up “edging” the front of this area with my hands. I think this will do a great job of clearing the grass and weeds yet allow me to stay away from those annoying utility lines. There is a very wide footplate, so that accommodates my boots well. The blade itself is VERY sharp, which you obviously need. One great feature of this edger is that there is a blade guard that fits on the end when the edger is not in use and hanging on a garage organizer. There is a padded handle grip which is also a nice touch. As the product description mentions, there is the ability to adjust the height of the tool and that is another reason why this edger caught my eye. There is a minimal amount of assembly required when the package is received, but it is very easy and presents no problem for a non-mechanical person such as me. (Now you can see why I liked the idea of a manual edger!) However, I have to let Mother Nature get rid of the snow covering my grass before I can test this edger out. I can already tell that it will do well for my needs.”
