Turns out yeah, if you walk on dry grass or live in a super dry climate it won’t do much, and you’ll probably trip a few times in the process. The sizing of the shoes are correct, I ordered a small size and I wear size 8 on women shoes. The straps to secure you’re foot are pretty strong, I used it for my front yard and I will say that depending your terrain, if you have a lot of rocks around, it makes it difficult and you can definitely twist your ankles, but that’s the only bad thing I have to say about it. Customer Review: “I first let viewers know that I received this product free under the Amazon Vine program. The aerator came in a few days ago, just perfect for our area. Here in Oklahoma, the temperature the last few weeks had been in the 70’s during the day with very little rain. Sun blazing, wind drying the soil out, my lawn and the soil beneath the grass brittle and dried out, rain water just ran off before it could be absorbed. My husband had opened the box when it arrived and thought I had bought him a gift 😇😇; I left him in the belief. So, anyhow, the next day he went outside (mind you he is in his low 70’s) and I found him around 10 am marching up and down the lawn with the aerator. I watched him, told him not to overdo it, but he replied ‘this thing is fantastic, its easy to lift, very light weight, and takes no effort at all to put one foot on top and take a step’. I left him to his device, 45 min later, he still had not returned inside, went to check on him again – still out there pushing the aerator in the soil, push, step on it, pull out, repeat – I could not believe after almost an hour he was still at it. Told me later, that it was like child’s play, the spikes are so slim and set up in a way that does not take a lot of physical effort to push down or to pull them back up – but here comes where I saw the benefit. Two days ago we had rain, lots of it at night and early morning, street ran like a creek. Normally, most of the water would have just hit the lawn (mine has a slope of about 5 feet from street level to the walkway leading to my front door), form little rivers in the dried out soil and run off with little benefit to my grass. However, that morning when I checked outside, my lawn looked different, at first I couldn’t figure out why, than it hit me, the soil looked somewhat loose, crumbly and when I took a little shovel, it was easy to turn the soil, it was spongy.
