I was plugged in and a-thatchin’ within 15 minutes of unboxing.There are several height adjustments, the highest of which will bring any plants, weeds, debris, or uneven growth on your lawn down to a uniform almost-ground-level height, while the lowest setting digs into the ground and actually churns up the dirt, leaving very few plant scraps and mostly just a diggable, plantable plot of soil.The collection bag is proportional to the tool but fills up rather quickly. Within 10 minutes of using the tool, you’ll need to dump it. But it makes such great composting base!! Topsoil with plant material already mixed in…. set it in your composter and forget ’til next year and you’ll be ready for the next cycle!This tool is lightweight and smaller than just about any push lawn mower, but for small and medium gardens it does a great job.One word of EXTREME CAUTION: do NOT back up with this while in use. It’s extremely easy to catch on the extension cord. I did this within the first minute and it got so tangled up in the blades. Fortunately the tool shut itself off (from too much resistance by the cord tangle) and didn’t cut through the extension cord, but it could have been much worse. Watch where the cord goes, throw it over your shoulder, use a brightly colored one if you got it, and avoid backing up because it’s the easiest way to snatch it up into the mechanism!With that safety protocol in mind, I’m really enjoying it, it makes light work of back-breaking raking scraping I used to have to do on my own and doesn’t take up too much storage space.”

Customer Review: “While I’ve only used this once it performed very well, certainly meeting my expectations. I’ve dethatched lawns using gas machines and by hand. This is now my preferred method. A 1-day rental for a gas unit costs around $80 in this area plus tax & fees. Then there’s the effort of picking it up and dropping it off. 2 rentals would pay for this machine. The upside to a gas unit is you’re not tethered to a cord. While a cord is a little annoying it’s not a big issue. Gas units are certainly more powerful but not typically needed for most residential lawns. Doing it by hand is a LOT of hard work, so…Finding assembly instructions was the only downside, but I was able to find an online video from a previous customer that helped. Basically, start with the large U-shaped bar and attach to the base where the 2 long pre-attached bolts protrude. You’ll have to stretch it a little to get on the 2nd side but it’s not hard. Then add a small round disk with the 2 parallel lines on the bar side. Finish with the green lockdown piece, screwing it in to the point where pushing it close to the bar locks it in place. Then add the 2 individual middle bar sections. Both ends are the same so orientation doesn’t matter. Push a bolt from the inside to the outside followed with the small round disk and green lockdown. Then attach the handle section. There are 2 small round pieces with an open side that are used to secure the wire in 2 different places to the bars. There’s another handle like piece with 2 screws that appear to be used to wall hang the unit that can be attached to the base – though that’s just a guess as I didn’t attach it. When I first opened the box, I thought it was missing 2 bolts. I saw 6 green lockdown pieces and mistakenly assumed there needed to be 6 bolts. Fortunately, the other bolts are already pre-attached to the base.While it might take a day, unlike many other similar type companies, this company absolutely does respond to emails. That to me is a big plus when you have questions or need replacement parts. For anyone who hasn’t used a dethatcher before, you might be concerned with what looks like a lot of live grass being lifted. This is normal and would occur even if you were to hand rake. This dethatcher however pulls up quite a bit more dead grass and thatch. We had a hard winter this year which caused lots of dead matted grass on top. So along with removing ground thatch this machine was easily able to rake through all of that and more will better allow for new grass growth. The unit is light weight and in my opinion, preferable to a heaver metal machine. Though a metal machine may be sturdier and not be a prone to cracking t some point in the future, it’s lots easier to maneuver and store. I looked at several other electric units. This unit was 15 amps as opposed to 12 and 16 inches wide as opposed to 12 or 14. The little extra costs is well worth it for power when needed and longevity of the electric motor. Though I had extension cords, at their recommendation I did end up buying a 100’ 12-gauge extension cord which cost me another $50, but it something I can use for many other projects.”

Customer Review: “I’ve gotta say, I was taking a shot in the dark when I bought this product. After watching some Tiktoks, I had a list of products I wanted to help me in a project to level and seed my yard. A dethatcher was one of them and I bought this one.It was lightweight and very easy to put together. It’s electric and I was concerned I might run over my extra long extension cord, but I didn’t! There’s a safety dongel on the machine you can run the cord through to prevent you from tugging too hard on the cord and accidentally unplugging it. That was a life saver.I did use the dethatcher on all areas of my yard, though my backyard was mostly dirt. It did a great job. Then I had 7 tons of rich mix and sand delivered. A lot of the rich mix was clumpy (it was supposed to have been screened, but it definitely wasn’t). Over about a week of trying to break up the clumps, I gave up. I spread the clumps around the yard and decided to switch the head on this machine to the aerator. I went at it! It broke up pretty much all of the clumps and quickly became my all time favorite tool to use in the yard.I live in Oklahoma and the ground is clay. The aerator cuts right through it and breaks it up into a nice, sandy dirt.I got all the work finished and am thrilled to see baby grass starting to grow now.So I bought the machine for the dethatcher and fell in love with the aerator. It’s a great little machine that did a good job on my .3 acre plot. I’m very happy with the purchase and recommend it to anyone needing to dethatch or aerate their yard.One last note, the machine does have a bag. Not knowing, I thought it would collect all the thatch so I wouldn’t have to rake after dethatching. It does collect thatch, but you should still expect to rake. It was my first try doing anything like this, so that was a lesson learned for me.”
