Customer Review: “Works just as good as electric plug in type of BD I have been using. This is wonderful tool, well balanced and easy to lift and handle to cut with. Lightweight, with adjustments on it to fit what you like, Battery that came with it was a 2.0 ah type battery, it lasted about 30-45 minutes first time trimming hedges then second time went beyond 45 minutes, so I am pleased with that. After 30 minutes to an hour I am sick of cutting hedges or shrubs and want to take a break, so I just put battery back on charger for 4-5 hours and ready to go again later. There was no assembly really to this, other then the black protective handle which was nothing, easy to put on and very good directions and I think a tool came wih it to do this if not it was a regular phillips screwdriver if that, cannot remember because it was so easy to put on and immediately slip on battery and go to cutting. I have had an electric 22 inch black and decker corded hedge trimmer for 10 plus years and it is still going strong, only reason I bought this was because I needed one battery operated for when I was not near electric source to plug in and I got tired of worrying about the cord all the time. I am very impressed with this 20 volt tool by BD and I highly recommend it for home use around any home at least 1500 sq feet to be able to cut all hedges and shrubs with one battery of 2.0 ah, if you do more or have a larger sq footage home with shrubs and hedges surrounding it on all sides and your home is larger than 1500 sq ft then you will no doubt need another battery for example 2 of the 2.0 ah types in order to do all your cutting at one time other wise you will run out of juice and have to re charge in middle of your work. Very good quality of tool, not cheap made at all, very durable and works really well, cuts very good.”

Customer Review: “By way of disclosure, I’m not Woodsy Owl and there’s no way I’m ever going to have an electric pick up. But, I bought a Black + Decker LHT2220 20V Lithium Ion Hedge Trimmer, 22” (new) and I’m never going back to anything with a two cycle engine because (short story) this tool just works. If you’re the type that wants more details: The B+D is crazy light. That means the work is easier and I think it gets done faster and when I wrap up, I’m not as wasted. Start up is easy, just hit the ‘GO’ switch and it cuts really well and is way quieter than the gear I’m used to using. There’s also something it doesn’t do and that’s pump out a steady stream of exhaust in my direction while the engine is running. Clean up is a snap and maintenance seems to be easy as well. I’m not sure how the company figured the battery rating and if you asked me if the way I cut and the volume of stuff I have to trim actually produced the target results, I’d have to ‘hedge’ my bets and say “I don’t think so.” But, it came close enough and if there is an issue, it’s nothing that hooking the battery to the charger and then grabbing lunch won’t fix. Or getting an extra battery and since I also got the 20V weed eater, I do have one of those. Also, the lithium Ion batteries don’t develop memories so I can charge whenever and even leave the batteries in the charger so I know they’ll be good to go. So, after one major job, yes, I can recommend the product and the seller and report that I would buy it again.”

Customer Review: “My father had an electric hedge trimmer that he said didn’t cut much of anything. I tried it once and it was totally useless. More like massaging the bushes. Consequently I inherited from him the habit of using manually operated shears. Finding one of those with straight blades that actually cut was kind of annoying. After watching a couple yard care Youtube videos decided to try an electric trimmer. Due to the experience above I suspected I needed to spend $70 on one of the big ones to get one that could really cut. The 24” (22″?) B&D’s were out of stock when I was ready to purchase so I bought this one based on the reviews wondering if it could live up to those reviews. For the low price I had severe doubts. Cue parting clouds, sunbeams, and trumpets. Hey, this thing actually cuts! In 20 minutes I cut what would have taken a couple days with the shears. The limiting factor was greens waste bin space. Stuffed a couple and had to stop. Plus shaping was much easier so the bushes look better. I used a 100’ “contractors” extension cord I bought on Amazon, actually I bought two different cords for different uses, so I test fit both and both sockets fit the trimmer. The wire fit in the hole for the retention hook and I had no problems with the cording popping off. It has trouble cutting thicker woody branches (perhaps around a half-inch) but that matches the description so no problem. It appears to be a trade-off. In exchange for being very light and easy to handle, you trade-away the cutting power of a higher amperage motor and the reach of the 22” and 24” trimmers. So if all your bushes are not much taller than you are and you don’t have to reach back too much, then this one is great. If you have giant bushes with thick branches then you might want more power and reach. Extremely happy with this purchase. Less effort, more productivity, less time, bushes look better, and for a low cost.”

Customer Review: “I am so happy I bought this electric saw. I was skeptical that it would be worth it to trim my boxwoods, but I am oh-so glad I tried it! I bought it because a few days before I’d trimmed just one of my boxwoods and it took most of the afternoon, by hand, and I was hot, my hands were sore, and I was tired. I figured, “Good grief, I’ve gotta try something different or I’ll be trimming for a week.” So I ordered this 17” saw, and frankly, I’m amazed at what a good job it did! Not only did it trim my largest boxwoods, it also trimmed my tall, thick hard wood stemmed euonymus’s. I usually have to get out my arm length heavy-duty clippers to battle those. I didn’t think this little saw would cut through their tough thick boughs, but it did. All within just minutes, rather than hours, and days! I had so much fun I started trimming other things I hadn’t thought of- and best of all, I used it to trim my tough ivy off some boulders they’d completely swallowed up a few years ago. It was easy-peazie, just swooped them back and forth slightly above the face of the rocks, the saw did it all- broke the ivy, and trimmed it so beautifully-done in moments. Normally, I’d be out there for hours on my knees, clipping with my hand clippers, and sweating amongst spiders on the ground, trying to fight bugs and the ivy off. Instead, I was done with all my work in less than a half of an afternoon. I even trimmed the heavy large vinca which always tries to take over my path-and which I normally have to slowly cut by hand, but it was cut with this saw like a hot knife through butter- what fun! All in about the same time it takes to walk down the path. No kneeling at all! Normally it takes me hours and hours on my knees on the gravel to do that path. I’m an older woman and had no problem with the weight using this. My hands weren’t tired when I was done. Seriously, why didn’t I buy this a lot sooner? I think next spring I’ll plant more boxwoods. Customer Review: “I have a 50′ row of Arborvitae shrubs that are 15′ tall and 8′ to 10′ wide, and the kicker is that you can’t get to the back side of the shrubs, so all trimming must be done from one side. As you can guess, giving them a haircut is quite a job. In the past I have rented a long handled gas powered trimmer, but when I tried to rent it this year they said that it had broken and since there was hardly any demand for it, they weren’t going to replace it. A couple of years ago I paid a lawn care guy to trim them for me but that cost me $500, so I wasn’t wanting to do that again. So, after researching online I bought the GarCare pole hedge trimmer. Just got through trimming the shrubs so thought I’d post a review while it is still fresh in my memory. I obviously can’t speak to longevity of the device, but I can definitely speak to the features. Ok, let’s start with the CONS: For me, there’s only one, actually. As others have stated, it is definitely heavy, especially if, as I did, you are standing on the 2nd from top step of a 14′ ladder and using the trimmer in fully extended mode, trying to reach the far side of a 10′ wide row of shrubs. It’s doable, but it’s definitely not easy. It would be really terrific if they made a model with the electric motor at the end of the handle (like the long pole gas trimmers) rather than at the cutting blade, although I know that raises the complexity of the device. In any case, I almost don’t want to list this as a ‘CON’ because the device definitely works as designed and intended. It might be better to call it an ‘observation’ rather than a ‘con’, but it’s definitely something to be aware of if you are looking at purchasing this trimmer. Ok, now for the PROS: The ‘laser’ cutting blade is SHARP!!!! This thing cut through my 1/2 to 3/4″ thick shrub stems with ease. This is extremely important since, as noted above, when you are holding this at full extension you want it to cut fast so that you don’t have to hold it fully extended any longer than necessary. This thing just blazed through my shrubs. Amazing! The build quality seems to be excellent. I was a bit worried that something that extends as long as this does might be flimsy when extended, but it isn’t. The slider connections are solid and well designed and the tube slider slides effortlessly. I was constantly adjusting the length from as short as possible to full extension while standing on the aforementioned 14′ ladder and never had a problem getting the adjustment that I needed. So, in summary, this trimmer was a terrific purchase! Hopefully it will stand the test of time, since I plan on using it for years to come. Unless, of course, they come with a model with the motor built into the handle end… ;)'”

Customer Review: “Instructions were horrendously unclear and the print is tiny. This model and the one without the telescopic tube are both presented together and they don’t make clear which one a given step applies to. Many of the features in the description didn’t seem to match what’s on the product as a result. The telescopic tube was hard to pull out and snapped back inside the tube when I let it go. I googled ‘Garcare GPHT07 assembly’ and found a video that was helpful enough to figure out the assembly, and there really isn’t much to it, thankfully, although in the demonstration the tube doesn’t snap back inside when it’s extended – still don’t understand why mine does. But once I put it together, I have to say it worked great. I’ve only used it once so far but was able to trim four large hedges, one of them about 12 feet tall or more, in under an hour (they were very overgrown). The product is heavy, but I expected that due to the design.”

Customer Review: “I have been using this trimmer for several months now. I have several other much more expensive hedge trimmers that do not have the features that this one does. The blade length at 20 inches is in the middle of the range of my trimmers however the rotating head make this flexible and most versatile. I have to admit that I do not always oil my hedge trimmer blades before or after every use like I should. This is the first and only hedge trimmer that I have which has a built in blade oiler. What a great idea. All chainsaws have this so why shouldn’t my hedge trimmer? That was a super great feature addition I didn’t realize I needed until I used it. I have used the tool now quite a bit and crossed my fingers that this wasn’t another imported one and done trash heap tool. It has lasted already for several months of weekly usage, which is a good sign, and the motor is brushless (another quality sign). The tool comes with a scabbard to protect the blades. Dewalt batteries slide in and out easily and work as they should. Excellent Tool!”

Customer Review: “my only complaints about this trimmer are that it’s heavy and the sheath for the blade isn’t meant to be used for storage–too thin and doesn’t open easily to insert the blades–though I wish it was! It is sturdy, sharp and cuts well. Feels very well made and durable. Have used it for various trimming tasks and I am really pleased with it. (wrote a review for one I returned last week, but this one is a keeper.) The reach is quite good, was able easily to trim the top of a 8 or 9 foot-tall bush and I’m only 5’4″.”

Customer Review: “Why did you pick this product vs others?:Just a basic review. It works as advertised. The shaft does flex due to small diameter, but won’t bend. My only quibble is that it doesn’t hinge to 90°, it can only hinge to about 60° from vertical. The electric motor is on the part that hinges so the only thing going through the hinge are the wires, so there’s not a reason why it can’t go to 90°. To cut a flat top on tall hedges you’ll have to stand away from the hedges a fair distance to get the cutter horizontal, and this of course reduces the maximum height you can cut by a foot or two. The motor being in the cutting head makes it more top-heavy when cutting the tops of tall hedges as well. One nice idea is that it hinges both ways so the motor can be pointing up when cutting the tops of hedges or using it low to the ground to cut brush and seedlings.”

Customer Review: “The trimming speed is not that fast, but it is quite acceptable given my yard only has three bushes, pretty normal single house size. It trims very good, very easy to set different angles to make an expected shape. Also, the head switch is very easy, move the plastic cover with two fingers, and then change the head, very easy job.”
