Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “The Worx edger works well, did a nice trench for lawn edger strips, too. Happy with the way it works, pretty basic, I’d recommend you use this on a dry lawn, or you’ll be cleaning the blade frequently. Just be careful you don’t turn back across the cord’s path, or you’ll be doing some power cord repair.”
Customer Review: “Outstanding machine. It trimmed some of my sidewalks, that had not been trimmed in 5 years, like there was no overgrown grass.I bought this for my wife because of it’s features, mainly three wheels. That made it easy to use. While I was trimming the overgrown sidewalk it kicked up a lot of dust but that was to be expected, not the machine’s fault, mine for getting letting the sidewalk get in that poor of a shape.I most defiantly was worth the money.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “I live in Phoenix on an acre parcel and most of it is in desert landscape. Therefore no formal lawn to mow. Yaaa. However when it rains here the weeds grow, well like weeds. Fast and furious. This year we had lots of rain and lots of weeds. I’ve been running a battery powered weed eater every day for a week or so. My back is aching from twisting sideways back and forth so it was time to look for a better solution. I figured how about a small battery powered lawn mower and then I found this thing at about half the cost. So figuring I’d probably junk it after a couple tries I decided to give it a try. Really glad I did. Soon as it arrived I put it together and out I went. It had just rained again and everything was wet but I had to try it. Worked perfectly. Knocked down and chewed up everything I ran it over and no extra back pain as a bonus. I charged up the batteries( comes with 2) overnight and set out to do a good cleanup the next day. This thing is a real delight. It runs about 20 minutes on each battery and since the batteries are fairly small you can carry the spare one in your pocket. another thing about the batteries is the way they eject from the tool. Push the button on the battery and it pops out of the tool’s battery compartment. I mention this because removing the battery from my other “green” weed eater is a real chore You have to push in 2 tabs, one on each side of the battery, and forcibly pull it from the tool. My wife can’t even manage doing it and I barely can, often resorting to prying it loose with a screwdriver while pushing the tabs with both hands. The black and decker baterries just eject with 1 hand by pushing the button, I love it.”
Customer Review: “I absolutely adore this mower/whacker! I have multiple small areas of grass that were once a pain to drag a heavy lawn mower over. I also wasn’t a fan of keeping and dealing with gas to mow a few small areas. This tool is lightweight and switches between mow/whack easily. Not a great choice for wet/heavy greenery, but makes quick work of a maintenance mow. I wish the battery lasted longer, but I love how I can just switch batteries and keep going. It has come in handy in a variety of applications outside of mowing my lawn and I love it!”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “This was extremely easy to install and took me no more than 30 minutes, by myself. We are able to weed wack by it without causing damage and it looks pretty nice for the price! It is thick and sturdy enough to do it’s job. I will be buying more.”
Customer Review: “So, I have a lot of areas that I mulch and I’ve been thinking that I needed something to keep the mulch in place. But I’m frugal, so I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. Pound in edging tends to be expensive, so when I found this edging at 2 inches high (rather than 1 1/2 inches) at a great price, I figured I’d give it a try and it is wonderful. I took the advise of some reviewers and let it sit in the sun before installation which made it very flexible. I was suspicious of the plastic stakes, but they worked fine and when needed, a rubber mallet did the trick. I put a stake in every second hole and had enough to utilize the entire length provided. It curved where I needed it to – and was so easy to install that now I’m looking around my yard to see if I can justify a second purchase.”
Complete Buying Guide for Edging Lawn Mower
Essential Factors We Consider
When selecting the best edging lawn mower, we evaluate several key factors including power source (corded vs. cordless), cutting width and depth, maneuverability, and ease of use. For corded models, we consider the length of the power cord and the motor’s power output. For cordless options, we examine battery life and compatibility. The cutting depth and width are crucial for achieving clean, precise edges, while maneuverability ensures you can navigate around obstacles and tight spaces.
Budget Planning
Edging tools range from budget-friendly options under $50 to professional-grade models exceeding $200. For basic garden edging, plastic edging kits offer the most economical solution. Electric edgers typically cost between $100-$200, while gas-powered models range from $200-$500. Consider your lawn size and edging needs when determining your budget – larger properties may require more powerful tools that justify the higher investment.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right edging lawn mower depends on your specific needs, lawn size, and budget. The WORX WG896 offers professional performance for serious edging work, the BLACK+DECKER MTC220 provides versatility for multiple yard tasks, and the JERIA edging kit delivers excellent value for garden border projects. Remember to consider factors like power source, cutting capabilities, and ease of use when making your decision.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the best edging lawn mower for small yards?
A: For small yards, the BLACK+DECKER MTC220 is an excellent choice due to its lightweight design and convertible functionality. Its wheeled base makes it easy to maneuver in tight spaces, while the included batteries provide sufficient runtime for most small lawn edging tasks.
Q: Can I use a regular lawn mower for edging?
A: While you can use a regular lawn mower for basic edging, dedicated edging tools provide more precise results. Regular mowers lack the specialized blades and cutting angles needed for clean, straight edges along sidewalks and garden borders.
Q: How often should I edge my lawn?
A: For best results, edge your lawn every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring through fall). Regular edging prevents grass from spreading into flower beds and maintains clean, defined borders around your property.
Q: What’s the difference between manual and powered edging tools?
A: Powered edging tools (electric or gas) require more upfront investment but save time and effort, especially on larger lawns. Manual tools are more affordable but require physical effort and may not achieve the same precision as powered options.
Q: Can I use an edger for trenching?
A: Yes, many edging tools like the WORX WG896 can function as trenching tools. The deep cutting capability allows you to create trenches for irrigation lines or edging strips, making them more versatile than standard edgers.
Maintaining clean, defined edges around your lawn not only improves its appearance but also prevents grass from encroaching on flower beds and garden areas. Whether you choose a powerful electric edger for sidewalks, a versatile 3-in-1 tool for small yards, or a budget-friendly edging kit for garden borders, investing in the right edging tool will save you time and effort while giving your lawn that professional, manicured look. Remember to consider your specific needs, lawn size, and budget when selecting the best edging lawn mower for your property.
